The Cosmos State

The Cosmos State

What if life isn’t something to control, but something to learn to navigate?

For most of my life, I have been trying to understand how we find our way.

Over time, I began to recognize a pattern.

We are always navigating.

And beneath our thoughts, plans, and intentions, the nervous system is constantly reading the world around us — assessing what is happening, what resources are available, and what we may need next.

I came to call the state that allows us to listen deeply enough to participate in that navigation the Cosmos State.

What Is the Cosmos State?

The Cosmos State is not about escaping ordinary life or reaching a permanent state of calm.

It is a state of presence.

A place where the noise becomes quiet enough for us to notice more clearly — what is happening around us, what is happening within us, and what our nervous system may be communicating.

It is where intuition and observation can meet.

Where knowledge can become wisdom.

Where instead of forcing our way forward, we become curious about what life and the body are telling us.

The Cosmos State is where listening becomes part of navigation.

The Cosmos Navigation System

Eventually, I realized that the way I had learned to understand the body was also a way of understanding life.

I began to see several elements that influence how we navigate:

The Compass — your nervous system
It continuously orients to what is happening within and around you.

The Navigator — you
You bring awareness, intention, choice, and the ability to decide where you want to go.

The Vehicle — your body
The physical system carrying you through the journey.

Fuel — your resources
Sleep, nutrition, movement, relationships, emotions, support, and the resources available to keep moving.

Terrain — life itself
The circumstances, environments, challenges, opportunities, and unexpected conditions we encounter.

None of these operates alone.

Learning to navigate means learning to notice how they interact.

The Nervous System’s Four Directions

Our nervous system doesn’t always need the same thing.

At different moments, it may orient us toward:

These are not levels to achieve or labels to judge ourselves by.

They are directions.

And learning to recognize them can change the question from:

What’s wrong with me?

to:

What might my system need right now?

That question sits beautifully beside the philosophy of your clinical work

without making the Cosmos State merely another treatment model.

From a Life Story to a Book

The Cosmos State: How Life Taught Me to Navigate

I didn’t create the Cosmos State first and then try to fit my life into it.

It happened the other way around.

The framework emerged as I looked back over a lifetime of experiences that once seemed unrelated — growing up across different cultures, my curiosity about intuition and perception, becoming a scientist and then a chiropractor, learning to listen through my hands, working with thousands of bodies, becoming a wife and mother, and navigating the changes and uncertainties of my own life.

Only later could I see the thread connecting them.

The Cosmos State is the story of discovering that thread.

It is part memoir, part exploration of the nervous system, and part invitation to become more conscious participants in the way we navigate our lives.
